Use as protection against falls in mobile elevating work platforms
The fall arrester has been tested and approved as protection against falls when the person using the device is
thrown out (catapult or whip effect) in connection with the use of a full body harness according to EN 361:2002 in
mobile elevating work platforms which are equipped with suitable anchor points.
The operating instructions of the elevating platform should be observed!
The following should be observed amongst other things:
1.
As a matter of principle, injuries of the person using the device, such as hitting the working platforms or the
boom of the mobile elevating work platform, when using the fall arrester cannot be excluded.
2.
The fall arrester may only be used in connection with full body harnesses according to EN 361:2002 with D
ring on the back and chest.
3.
Only anchor points with sufficient load-bearing capacity (min. 3kN) (
handrail may be used. When using higher anchor points at the working plathform, the safe functioning of the
fall arrester is no longer ensured.
4.
The fall arrester is connected to the suitable anchor point of the working platforms by means of a fastening
element (max. length of 110 mm) according to EN 362:2004. With its fastening element, the retractable
lanyard is connected to the D ring of the full body harness. Using an extension in connection with the full
body harness D ring on the chest is not admissible. ((
5.
The fall arrester is connected at the full body harness back D-ring by means of a connector (max. length
of 110 mm) according to EN 362:2004. With its fastening element, the retractable lanyard is fastened at a
suitable anchor point at the working platforms (
Using an extension between the full body harness D-ring on the back and the fall arrester is not admissible.
6.
When choosing the D-ring, the full body harness and the anchor points in the working platforms, it should be
ensured that always the shortest connection between the D-ring of the full body harness and the anchor point
is established. Modifications of the system are not admissible.
7.
In order to prevent the person using the device from being thrown out of the working platforms while the
elevating platform is travelling, the connection between an anchor point at the front in the area of the control
panel (max. height of the knee rail or lower) and the full body harness D ring on the chest should be chosen (
). Optionally, a rear anchor point and the full body harness D ring on the back without using an extension
