NEMESIS QUATTRO IP (SPLASh-PROOF vERSION)
The Nemesis Quattro Splash-proof is IP24 rated and may be installed
outdoors including barns, stables or similar locations. Although the
Splash-proof model is designed to withstand accidental contact with
water drips and splashes, the equipment must not be hosed down.
This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above,
and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or
lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and
understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the
appliance, and cleaning and maintenance shall not be undertaken by
children without supervision
Danger - High Voltage! This appliance uses a high voltage killing grid
to electrocute flying insects always disconnect the power before
commencing maintenance and cleaning. The appliance is provided
with a safety interlock switch which cuts the power to the lamps
and killing grid when the guard is opened.
Please read these instructions carefully and keep them for future
reference. Your PestWest fly killer has been designed and constructed
using top quality materials and if installed correctly and kept clean, will
operate reliably and safely for many years. The Nemesis Quattro unit
may be operated either wall-mounted or suspended.
SITING ThE UNIT
Electric fly killers (EFKs) operate on the principle whereby flying insects
are attracted to light, particularly to the ultra violet (UV-A) range,
however, the efficiency of an EFK can be affected by the intensity
of other light sources, whether artificial or daylight. It is therefore,
sensible to mount the EFK where the competition from such sources is
minimised.
AS A GENERAL RULE
Wherever possible, mount the unit as ceiling suspended then they will
attract insects from all directions
Do not mount adjacent to windows
The unit should be sited wherever possible, at 90° to the major light
source, e.g.: the sunniest window
In food areas, mount the EFK close to but not directly over exposed food
or preparation surfaces
Mount the unit where it can be easily accessed for servicing

Mount the unit above head height – in the case of suspended
mounting, clear of any traffic e.g.: forklift trucks
Avoid mounting your EFK in draughts
Site units near where flies are likely to gain access, i.e.: doors opening to
the outside, especially dustbin areas
For maximum effectiveness, the EFK should be kept switched on 24
hours a day

UNPACKING YOUR UNIT

Each unit is carefully inspected and packed before leaving our factory.
Before discarding the outer carton, examine for obvious signs of
transport damage. Pay particular attention to the removal of all plastic
transit packaging on the "plug in" killing grid, including the tie-wraps at
the bottom of the killing grid and on the front guard.
To increase protection in transit, some models are packed without the
tubes fitted. These can be found in the catch tray inside a protective
cardboard sleeve. Please refer to the 'TUBE REPLACEMENT' section for
details on how to install the lamps prior to use.
INSTALLATION
All European versions are designed to operate from 220 – 240 V 50Hz.
UK models, powered from 13 amp ring main system, are supplied
with a cord set, terminated in a 13 amp plug, fitted with a 3 amp fuse.
Continental models are supplied with a cord set terminated with a
Schuco plug. Ensure the branch fuse is 16 amps maximum.
NEMESIS QUATTRO IP (SPlASh-PROOf vERSION)
The Nemesis Quattro IP is fitted with a 2 metre input cable that is hard-
wired via a water tight cable gland for electrical safety. As the unit is going
to be installed in damp areas, the cord must be terminated by a connector
suitable for the environment. Ensure that once installed, the power lead is
adequately secured.
The Nemesis Quattro differs from most traditional high voltage fly
killers because it is fitted with a high efficiency electronic ballast which
complies with the EMC Directive 2004/108/EC and the Low Voltage
Directive 2006/95/EC. Where local conditions result in these conditions
not being met the reliability of the unit may be compromised. It is the
responsibility of the installer to ensure the supplies are compliant.
The electronic ballast uses sensitive electronic components and as such
the Nemesis Quattro should be handled with the same care as a sound
system, DVD player or any other electronic equipment. The voltage and
frequency of the power line must be within the normal working range
as specified. The polarity of the supply connections must be respected
(Live & Neutral).
The electronic ballast is resistant to transient overvoltages specified
in the standards, however the Nemesis Quattro must be installed
on separate circuits which are separated from other inductive loads
(inductive ballasts, motors, fans etc....). In areas where power surges and
transients are known to be prevalent it is strongly recommended that a
suitable surge protection device is installed on the branch circuit or at
the mains outlet socket.
The unit should not be installed in areas where the ambient
temperature exceeds 40°C
The units are supplied with 2 metres of input cable as standard. If it is
necessary to extend this lead, a competent electrician must do this.
Should a moulded-on plug be removed from the lead supplied, this
must be disposed of safely. Ensure that once installed, the power lead is
adequately secured.
