Sanding frame
FSR-BS 75 / FSR-BS 105
Fitting
The sanding frame has already-been
pre-adjusted at the factory. Therefore
the red set screws (4.1, 4.2) should only
be altered if a readjustment becomes
necessary.
The sanding frame must be assembled
very carefully in order to ensure optimum
accuracy.
Set up the machine with the sanding surface
uppermost - if possible in the stationary posi-
tion. Remove the sanding belt and leave the belt
tensioning lever (3.7) in its swung-out position.
Fit the retainer spring (1.2) with the front (1.1)
and rear guide brackets (2.2). It is essential that
the hexagon screws marked "A" (1.3, 2.3) are
tightened fi rst.
Changing the abrasive-belt support with types
BS 105 / BS 105 E
In order to achieve a better quality abrasion, the
attached belt support may be used instead of the
screwed on spring steel section.
Trial sanding
To trial sand put on the sanding belt (grain 100)
and secure sanding frame according to the para-
graph on handling. Using the knurled screw (3.3)
set the machine in such a way, that the sanding
belt stands back relative to the brushes. The ec-
centric rocker arm (3.2) must be swung forward.
Place the sander on a level plate and lower the
machine by the sanding allowance with the motor
running, until the sanding belt just makes contact.
Do not move the machine. The sander is raised
perpendicularly from the plate and the sanding
pattern can be observed. At optimum setting the
entire sanding surface is sanded (approx. 75 x
130 mm or 105 x 165 mm).
Operation
When inserting the sander into the sanding frame,
make sure that the slide pins (3.5, 3.8) fi xed to
the sanding frame engage front and rear in the
grooves of the guide brackets (3.6, 3.9). Slide the
sander downwards along the grooves until the
toggle lever (3.4) engages.
Set the machine with the knurled screw (3.3), so
that when it is placed on the workpiece-surface
the sanding belt does not engage. The sanding
belt is engaged by turning the knurled screw
towards the plus symbol until the belt makes
contact. Continue turning the knurled screw to
achieve the desired depth of stock removal (1
complete turn corresponds to a height adjustment
of 0.4 mm).
When interrupting or on completing work, the
sander is raised from the working position (3.2)
set to a position of rest (3.1) by means of an ec-
centric rocker arm. By swinging the eccentric
rocker arm to working position the depth of stock
removal set previously is again obtained.
Taking the sanding frame off
Press down the knurled screw (3.3) until the tog-
gle lever (3.4) springs out of the spring catch and
the machine can be withdrawn from the rear.
Readjustment
Readjustment is necessary if anything less than
the entire sanding surface is sanded during the
trial. To do this, set the machine up with the sand-
ing surface uppermost.
- Lay a straight strip of wood or similar material
over the brushes, close to the sanding surface.
- Set the sanding frame so as to leave the smallest
possible gap between the strip and the sanding
belt.
- Loosen attachment screws (1.3, 2.3) of the guide
brackets.
- Align the sanding frame using the set screws
(4.1, 4.2), so that whatever the position of the
strip, as shown in fi g. 4, an even gap is obtained.
The set screws must always touch the belt cas-
ing.
- Retighten the attachment screws (1.3, 2.3) of the
guide brackets. The screws marked "A" should
be tightened fi rst. Make sure that the gap be-
tween the strip and the sanding belt remains
constant.
- Check adjustment by trial sanding.
