1. Introduction
To all residents of the European Union
Important environmental information about this product
This symbol on the device or the package indicates that disposal of the device after its
lifecycle could harm the environment. Do not dispose of the unit (or batteries) as
unsorted municipal waste; it should be taken to a specialized company for recycling. This
device should be returned to your distributor or to a local recycling service. Respect the
local environmental rules.
If in doubt, contact your local waste disposal authorities.
Thank you for buying the VTSS5! Please read the manual thoroughly before bringing this device
into service. If the device was damaged in transit, do not install or use it and contact your dealer.
The device is equipped with an electronic, temperature-controlled analogue scale from 175 to
480°C.
The soldering iron is connected to ground.
Power is switched on or off by the temperature control button. A LED indicator lights up when
the device is on.

2. Safety Instructions

Keep this device away from children and unauthorized users. Do not leave the soldering
station unattended.
Do not use near inflammable products or in explosive atmospheres. Heat can cause fire
to inflammable products even when they are not in sight. Only use in properly ventilated
rooms.
Do not touch the shaft or soldering tip as this can cause serious burns. Always return the
soldering iron to its stand between uses; always let it cool down after use and before
storage. Incorrect use may cause fire.
Always disconnect mains power when the device is not in use or when maintenance
activities are performed. Handle the power cord by the plug only. Do not crimp the power
cord(s) and protect against damage. Have an authorised dealer replace it if necessary.
Do not inhale solder fumes. The vapours that are released during soldering are
harmful. Therefore, you should only use the soldering station in well-ventilated
areas or under an exhaust hood (solder fume extractor).Dispose of solder residue
in accordance with local regulations.
Never use the device on live electronic circuits. Make sure power to the work piece is cut
and capacitors are discharged.
The soldering station is to be used only for soldering/desoldering electric and electronic
components in printed circuit boards and modules, for tinning PCB tracks and cable ends and
for repairing cable connections.
The soldering station may definitely not be used for heating liquids and synthetic materials
(formation of toxic vapours, fire hazard!)
A defective soldering station (visible damage, no function, prolonged storage in bad
conditions, improper shipping) mustn't be used and should be guarded against further use.
The device should only be repaired by qualified personnel.
The soldering station should only be used with an alternating current of 230V (220V-240V)
50Hz.
You shouldn't leave the soldering station at high temperatures for too long. Shut it off when
you don't intend on using it for a longer period.
Never cool down the soldering station by emerging it in water.
Don't expose the soldering station and soldering iron to large mechanical loads.
Because the soldering station heats up during use, it is of paramount importance that you use
it only on a stable, solid and fireproof surface. Never block or cover up the ventilation slots.
