Putting into use

Before using for the fi rst time
1. Remove the packaging. Remove the lid from the deep fryer.
The frying baskets (6) are in the fryer. Take all of the objects
out of the fryer.
2. We recommend cleaning the lid, housing (8), containers (7)
and frying baskets (6) as described under „Cleaning".
3. If necessary, push the control device(s) (5) into the guide
mechanisms so that it is/they are fi rmly in place. Then pull the
connection cable(s) out of the cable compartment(s) (10).
Useful hints for use
1. Always remove the food remaining in the oil (e.g. pieces of
French fries). Change the oil after using it 8-10 times. Use
high quality frying oil or frying grease.
2. Fats and oils must be heatable to high temperatures. Do not
use margarine, olive oil or butter: they are not fi t for frying,
because they start to smoke already at low temperatures.
We recommend the use of liquid frying oil.
WARNING:
Please note this important information if you intend
to use fat!
If you use fat, please divide it up into small pieces. Turn the
thermostat to a low temperature and add the pieces slowly.
Once the fat has melted and the correct oil level is reached
you can set the desired temperature on the thermostat.
Under no circumstances should you place the fat in
the frying baskets!
3. In order to reduce the acrylamide content of food containing
starch (potatoes, cereals) the temperature during deep-fat
frying should not exceed 170°C (or possibly 175°C). Fur-
thermore, the frying time should be kept as short as possible
and the food only fried until it turns golden yellow.
4. Please note that the safety switch (1) is operated when the
control element is inserted into the guide mechanism.
5. Choose the right frying temperature and check the condi-
tions of the food to be fried. A rule of thumb is that pre-fried
foods require a higher temperature than raw foods.
6. Do not carry or move the deep fryer if the oil or grease is still
hot.
7. When frying dough-like foods scrape off the excess dough
and put the pieces carefully into the oil.
8. Please ensure that the handle(s) on the frying basket(s)
has/have been properly tightened.
Fold the handle(s) over so that it/they lock(s) into place
when raised.
The deep fat frying basket must not be more than 2/3
full. Do not overfi ll the frying basket (The maximum
fi lling quantity for chips is 200g per litre of oil/fat).
9. Rub dry humid foods with a cloth before frying.
WARNING:
In the case of foodstuffs which are too moist (e.g. frozen chips
etc.) large amounts of foam may form, which under certain
circumstances may cause the oil to overfl ow.

Use
1. Make sure that the appliance is unplugged and switched off
(The control lamps (2+3) are off.).
2. Remove the lid from the deep fryer.
3. Remove the frying baskets and fi ll the containers with oil or
fat (not more than 2 x 3.3 l). The fi lling level must be located
between the minimum and the maximum level. Place the
lid back in position. Insert the plug(s) into a 230 V, 50 Hz
socket with earthing contact. The green POWER control
lamp(s) (2) light(s) up. Turn the temperature control(s) (4) to
the desired temperature(s) (Min. – approx. 130°C, middle
position – approx. 160°C, Max. – approx. 190°C).
4. The red TEMP control lamp(s) (3) light(s) up.
5. Once the set temperature has been reached the red control
lamp goes off. Place the frying baskets containing the food
to be fried carefully into the hot fat.
6. The red control lamp switches on and off several times
during frying. This is normal and it indicates that the
temperature is controlled by the thermostat and is being
maintained. Once the frying time is over (the frying times are
to be found on the packaging of the food or in the recipe),
please take out the frying basket.
7. Allow some of the oil to drain off the fried food by suspen-
ding the frying basket(s) on the edge of the frying grease
container(s).
8. In order to switch off the machine, please turn the tempera-
ture regulator to OFF and remove the plug from the socket.
Wind up the mains lead(s) in the form of a spiral in the cable
compartment(s).
Cleaning
1. Ensure that the mains plug(s) has/have been removed.
2. Wait until the deep fryer is completely cool before cleaning.
Wait in any case for 1 to 2 hours after use before using
again to avoid burns.
3. Pull the control device upwards to remove it. In order to
change the oil, remove the frying grease container(s) and
pour the oil out at the side.
4. Please do not immerse the device in water.
5. Clean the frying grease containers, lids and housing with a
damp cloth and washing-up liquid if necessary.
6. The frying baskets can be cleaned in the usual manner in
soapy water.
7. Avoid using abrasive materials or sharp objects. These may
damage the deep fryer!
8. Reassemble the deep fryer and push the control device(s)
back into the guide mechanism(s).
Troubleshooting
Device is not working
Troubleshooting:
Check the mains connection.
Check the position of the thermostat.
