Installation instructions:
Electrical system for towing hitch
Installing the electrical kit
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the spare wheel.
3. If necessary, remove the following covers and panels:
In the luggage compartment
Covering of the rear end plate
-
Covering of the left rear trunk side
-
Covering of the C-pillar at the back on the left and on the right side
-
Inside the vehicle
Access strips, left side
-
Lower dashboard covering
-
Lower A-pillar covering
-
4. Take the cable bushing of the cable harness of the licence plate light, fog light and back-up
lights out of the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/10). and pull it slightly inward.
5. Lead the socket end of the cable harness through the cable leadthrough to the outside up to
the socket holder plate (Fig. 1/11).
6. Make a cut into the side of the bushing up to the small, sealed opening and insert the original
cable harness of the licence plate light, fog light and back-up light. Cut the cable to size.
7. Insert the rubber grommet into the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/10) and seal it if necessary.
Installing the socket
8. Press the contact insert into the socket housing and push the rubber grommet towards the
socket.
9. Screw the socket onto the socket holder plate (Fig. 1/11) using the supplied screws and nuts.
Connecting the tail lights
10. Lay the cable ends with the green and black cable to the back-up light (Fig. 1/12) and the
grey and black cable to the rear fog light (Fig. 1/9).
11. Disconnect the plugs and connect it to the appropriate counterparts of the cable harness.
Make sure that the plugs lock firmly into place.
12. Lay the cable end marked "left" to the left-hand tail light (Fig. 1/6) and the cable end marked
"right" along the rear end plate to the right-hand tail light (Fig. 1/13).
13. Disconnect the plug-in connector of the tail light and connect it to the matching counterparts
on the cable harness. Make sure that the plugs lock firmly into place.
Connecting the trailer control module
14. Plug the 12-pin plug and the 18-pin plug into the trailer control module (Fig. 1/4, 3/4).
15. Fasten the trailer control module to the left-hand wheel housing using a piece of velcro tape.
16. Connect the black wires with the eyelet to the vehicle's ground point (Fig. 1/8).
