10. STORAGE

Proper storage preparation is essential for keeping your hedge trimmer trouble
free and looking good. The following steps will help to keep rust and corrosion
from impairing your hedge trimmer.
CAUTION:
• If the hedge trimmer has been running, the engine will be very hot; allow it
to cool before proceeding.
• Place the hedge trimmer on a level surface and remove the spark plug cap
to be certain the engine will not start accidentally.
1. Clean all exterior surfaces, touch up any damaged paint, and coat other areas
that may rust with a light film of oil.
2. Drain the fuel....
Gasoline is extremely flammable and explosive under certain conditions. Do
not smoke or allow flames or sparks in the area.
a. Be sure that the engine oil filler cap is tightened securely.
b. Remove the fuel tank cap and drain the fuel into an approved gasoline container
by tipping the hedge trimmer toward the fuel filler neck.
