1
Check that the documentation relating to the installation is present and fully filled in
2
The system has top and bottom spring loaded retractable terminations that prevent the rope grab from accidentally slipping off the rail
3
The installation is complete, with top, bottom and intermediary mounting brackets, anchor line (energy absorber and tensioner if necessary)
All the mounting brackets (top, bottom or intermediary) are installed on the structure according to the recommendations given in this guide
4
AND using the fastenings provided by the manufacturer
5
For the rail installations (only): the junctions are present for each section change AND are properly fixed
6
The intermediary mounting brackets are set at the given intervals
7
All the nuts are properly installed AND include an anti-release system (Nylock nut OR nut with Grower washer – or equivalent OR nut locknut)
8
The rope grab/trolley slides freely on the anchorage line without sticking
9
The system is perfectly aligned vertically, from the top to the bottom
Check that a data plate is present on each device and each device access and that the data has been correctly filled in and is legible.
10
Mark the date of the next inspection
11
The system shows no inclination exceeding ±15°
12
This installation guide and the PPE User Instruction Manual are present
13
Presence and legibility of the markings
14
Inspect the general state of each component of the system: ensure absence of corrosion, deformation and cracking.
For cable installations (only) : Check the state of the cable; there should be no signs of thread breakage, deformation (kinks or broken
15
strands, etc.), crushing, unwinding or oxidation.
16
Check the general condition of the fasteners and their tightness (verify the tightening torque)
For cable installations (only) : For cable installations (only) : Check the tension of the cable; the control washer must turn freely (see
17
description of the absorber in the instructions)
18
Check that the fall indicator is not activated
For cable installations (only) : Check that the cable has not slipped out of the manual crimp (indicator varnish)
19
20
Check that the system has been installed in accordance with the installation instructions
21
Check that the system has not been modified in any way
For cable installations (only) : Check that the cable is correctly positioned in the intermediate loops
22
Before each use, check that the system is functioning properly. Specifically, check:
- that the product does not have any visible defects, cuts, abrasions, or signs of wear, cracks, etc.
- the energy absorber (if fitted) has not been activated (red ring visible),
- that there are no traces of oxidation.
Also check that the annual device inspection is still valid.
As the anchorage line (rail) is a safety device, particular attention must be paid during visual inspections.
No modifications, including the addition or removal of parts, may be carried out without first consulting the manufacturer. Missing or defective parts will
be replaced with original parts provided exclusively by the manufacturer. In case of doubt, for your safety it is mandatory to have the manufacturer, or
competent person appointed by them, inspect the installation.
These systems (rail + sliding fall arrester) are PPE, and therefore it is mandatory to have the manufacturer, or competent person appointed by them,
inspect the system:
- after a fall,
- every 12 months,
This inspection must be recorded in the installation's life record sheet, on the warning sign, as well as in the company's safety logbook.
4 - MAINTENANCE:
The KS8000 and KS9000 systems do not require any special maintenance.
