BEFORE INSTALLING PUMP, BE SURE TO READ THIS
OWNER'S MANUAL CAREFULLY.
REFER TO PRODUCT DATA PLATE(S) FOR ADDITIONAL
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
C A U T I O N Do not run mechanical shaft seals dry. Fill
pump with water before starting or pump will be damaged.
The motor on this pump is guaranteed by the manufacturer
and in event of failure it must be returned to an authorized
service station for repairs. Motor warranty is void if repairs
aren't made by an authorized repair station.
Most water system troubles result from improper installation. We
therefore suggest that you read this manual carefully before starting
your pump. The "SERVICE CHECK LIST" will assist you in locating
and eliminating the cause of any trouble you may encounter later.
Check and make available all the tools you will need to install your
pump. These are wrenches, pipe sealant, pipe fittings and nipples,
screwdriver, etc. Be sure to have available the proper and adequate
wiring material.
INSPECT THE SHIPMENT
All pumps are carefully tested, crated, and inspected to ensure
their arrival in good condition. Occasionally, products may
become damaged during shipment.
When the pump is received, examine it closely to make sure there is
no damage or broken parts. If damage is evident, report immediately
to either the carrier who made the shipment or to the dealer from
which the pump was purchased. All pumps are water-tested prior to
shipment. If water film is found, it is the result of this testing.
READ AND FOLLOW
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
This is the safety alert symbol. When you see this symbol
on your pump or in this manual, look for one of the following
signal words and be alert to the potential for personal injury:
D A N G E R warns about hazards that will cause serious
personal injury, death or major property damage if ignored.
W A R N I N G warns about hazards that can cause serious
personal injury, death or major property damage if ignored.
C A U T I O N warns about hazards that will or can cause minor
personal injury or major property damage if ignored.
The label NOTICE indicates special instructions, which are
important but not related to hazards.
Carefully read and follow all safety instructions in this manual
and on pump.
Keep safety labels in good condition.
Replace missing or damaged safety labels.

IMPORTANT SAFETY
INSTRUCTIONS
When installing and using this electrical equipment, basic safety
precautions should always be followed, including the following:
READ AND FOLLOW
ALL INSTRUCTIONS
W A R N I N G To reduce the risk of injury, do not permit children to
use this product unless they are closely supervised at all times.
W A R N I N G Risk of Electric Shock. Connect only to a branch
circuit protected by a ground-fault circuit-interrupter (GFCI). Contact
a qualified electrician if you cannot verify that the circuit is protected
by a GFCI.
The unit must be connected only to a supply circuit that is protected
by a ground-fault circuit-interrupter (GFCI). Such a GFCI should be
provided by the installer and should be tested on a routine basis. To
test the GFCI, push the test button. The GFCI should interrupt power.
Push the reset button. Power should be restored. If the GFCI fails to
operate in this manner, the GFCI is defective. If the GFCI interrupts
power to the pump without the test button being pushed, a ground
current is flowing, indicating the possibility of an electric shock.
Do not use the pump. Disconnect the pump and have the problem
corrected by a qualified service representative before using.
C A U T I O N This pump is for use with permanently-installed
pools and may also be used with hot tubs and spas if so marked.
Do not use with storable pools. A permanently-installed pool is
constructed in or on the ground or in a building such that it cannot
be readily disassembled for storage. A storable pool is constructed
so that it is capable of being readily disassembled for storage and
reassembled to its original integrity.
W A R N I N G
Do not install within an outer enclosure or beneath
the skirt of a hot tub or spa.
W A R N I N G This equipment must not be used by children
or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities,
or lacking in experience and expertise, unless supervised or
instructed. Children may not use the equipment, nor may they play
with the unit or in the immediate vicinity.
Wire motor for correct voltage.
See "Electrical" section of this
manual and motor nameplate.
Ground motor before connecting to
power supply.
Meet National Electrical Code,
Canadian Electrical Code, and local
codes for all wiring.
Follow wiring instructions in this
manual when connecting motor to
power lines.
