This battery icon will begin blinking for one minute while the camera "beeps" every
ten seconds to warn you that the battery will soon be out of power. After one minute,
the camera goes into auto-shut off.
Note Should the camera run out of battery power, the pictures in camera's flash
memory are saved and will not be deleted.
Using QuickCam
Put the Camera in PC-cam Mode
On the side of the camera, move the three-position mode switch to the up position
(towards the PC icon), which corresponds to PC-cam mode. The camera must be
in this mode for it to work when connected to your computer. When the camera
is connected, what the camera sees is displayed on your computer monitor.
Connect the Camera to Your Computer
Connect the camera to your computer's USB port using the USB cable.
Launch the QuickCam
Click the "Create Pictures and Videos" button to activate the Create Pictures and
Videos activity.
Focus the Camera — PC-cam Mode
QuickCam
You focus the camera by moving the focusing ring (underneath the camera lens)
back and forth. While looking at the live preview window of the QuickCam software,
point the camera at a subject and adjust the focus ring until the image in the preview
window is sharp.
Auto Exposure/White Balance
The camera has an auto-exposure function to determine proper exposure.
The luminescence and RGB values of five areas within the frame are calculated.
Based on these calculations, the camera adjusts exposure time, gain, and color to
give you an optimal exposure.
Note When taking pictures or making videos, avoid subjects of extreme contrast that
have both deep shadows and harsh highlights. These subjects are usually found
in back lighting situations (e.g., when the sun is directly behind your subject).
