similar materials.
- The fall arrester only has to be used in connection with a safety harness as
per DIN EN 361.
- Only suitable anchorage devices as per DIN EN 795 have to be used. The
anchorage point has to be conceived for a force of 12 kN.
- To avoid a swinging fall, the fall arrester has to be fixed as vertically to the
sphere of activity as possible. Moreover, it should always be possible
that the fall arrester can adapt itself to the deviation of the rope.
- Mount the unit carefully so that the second person can reach and operate
the crank to rescue the dumped person.
- A Revac must not be used by more than one person at the same time
- Only operate the crank for rescue purposes, The descent function is al-
lowed to lower a person to a distance up to 2 M only.
-It is advisable to keep a direct or indirect eye on the person or to use any
means of communication with the person rescued at anytime while the res-
cue.
-Do not use the retrieval system for lifting loads.
- The steel wire must not be used as grounding cable (e. g. when welding).

4) Valid regulations
Apart from the operating instructions all general, legal and other binding regu-
lations concerning accident prevention have to be considered.
The employer has to make sure that the operating instructions supplied by the
manufacturer are available and accessible to the users of the unit.
Alterations on the fall arrester bring about the expiration of the construction test
and release the supplier / manufacturer from any guarantee or compensation.
Only original Söll replacements have to be used.
5) Description of the Revac
The Revac is a fall arrester with integrated rescue lifting system. It consists of
a steel housing containing a rope drum pretensioned by a spring. The tension
of the spring guarantees that the lanyard is tensioned permanently and conse-
quently that the brake is activated immediately in case of a fall. The brake reacts
to a rope extraction speed of approximately 1.5 m/s and slows the falling person
down softly so that the stopping distance is normally minor to 1000 mm. By ope-
rating the hand crank which activates the rope drum by a gear unit, the person
hanging at the rope can be rescued.
As a locking device arrests the movement immediately, the hand crank can be
released at any time. Once the rescue lifting system has been used, the unit can-
not be used anymore but has to be inspected.
As a protection against external influences the Revac has a double surface pro-
tection in form of a galvanization and a chrome plating .
Please note that human life is concerned!
