The D 409 is an excellent choice for miking up
toms 14 inches in diameter or larger. (The
gooseneck of the D 409 would be too long for use
on smaller toms.)
1. Clamp the microphone on the tension hoop of
the top head.
Make sure to position the microphone outside
the trajectories of your drum sticks.
2. Aim the microphone at the outer rim of the top
head.
To clean the microphone case, use a soft cloth
moistened with water.
