charcoal barbecue grills only.

of any kind or quantity on the sear
grate. Cooking oil can catch fire and

lightly oil food prior to placing in
heated sear grate.
m WarnInG: do not use sear grate without the
Gourmet BBQ system hinged cooking grate.
m WarnInG: always use heat-resistant
barbecue mitts or gloves when handling or
cooking on the Weber Original™ Gourmet
BBQ system.
m WarnInG: do not attempt to remove a hot
sear grate from the grill.
m CaUTIOn: do not drop the cast-iron sear
grate—it will break.

Use and Care
Prior to First Use: Hand wash new sear grate and grates thoroughly
with a mild dishwashing liquid. Dry thoroughly with soft cloth or
paper towel.
Follow all danGer, WarnInG and CaUTIOn statements
provided in your Weber Charcoal Grill Owner's Guide.

• Follow the instructions in your Weber
Owner's Guide to set up grill for direct grilling (Image 1).
• After the coals are thoroughly hot (approximately 25 minutes),
using barbecue mitts or gloves, place cooking grate into grill.
Place the sear grate into the cooking grate opening (Image 2, 3).
• Place the lid on the grill bowl, leaving lid damper open and pre-heat
the sear grate and cooking grate for approximately 10-15 minutes.
• Lightly oil foods prior to placing in the hot sear grate.
• Evenly distribute food over sear grate surface, avoid clustering
foods. Close the grill lid. Use barbecue tongs to turn your food.
CaUTIOn: Using a metal spatula on the sear grate surface
can cause damage to the porcelain-enamel finish.
• Do not remove the sear grate until it is cold. Use care when
lifting the sear grate out of the grill to avoid spilling remaining
food/liquid.
• Hand wash sear grate with warm soapy water after use. Soak in
water to remove stubborn particles before hand washing. Nylon
or soft abrasive pads/brushes may be used. CaUTIOn: do not
use metallic pads/brushes or harsh abrasive soaps as these
will damage the porcelain-enamel finish. Thoroughly dry sear
grate after washing.
• Brush debris off hinged cooking grate with steel bristled wire brush.

accompanying it.
Weber may require reasonable proof of your date of purchase.

OR INVOICE AND RETURN THE WEBER LIMITED WARRANTY
REGISTRATION CARD IMMEDIATELY.
This Limited Warranty shall be limited to the repair or replacement of
parts that prove defective under normal use and service and which on
examination shall indicate, to Weber's satisfaction, that they are defective.
If Weber confirms the defect and approves the claim, Weber will elect to
repair or replace such parts without charge. If you are required to return
defective parts, transportation charges must
be prepaid. Weber will return parts to the purchaser, freight or postage
prepaid.
This Limited Warranty does not cover any failures or operating difficulties
due to accident, abuse, misuse, alteration, misapplication, vandalism,
improper installation or improper maintenance or service, or failure to
perform normal and routine maintenance. Deterioration or damage due
to severe weather conditions such as hail, hurricanes, earthquakes or
tornadoes, discolouration due to exposure to chemicals either directly or in
the atmosphere, is not covered by this Limited Warranty. Weber shall not
be liable under this or any implied warranty for incidental or consequential
damages. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also
have other rights, which vary from state to state.
