The charging process must be switched off when disconnecting the battery. If the
battery is disconnected while the charging process is in progress, the contacts in
the charging connector will be damaged and sparks may be generated that could
cause a hydrogen explosion.
SMC-HF 3200
6. Switching off the battery charger.
Set the Start/Stop button on the panel to position 0.
7. The STANDBY LED comes on, showing a green light.
8. Disconnect the battery from the battery charger.
SMC-HF 8000
1. Pause the charging process by pressing the pause button II
2. Disconnect the battery immediately after the battery charger's pause button has
been pressed. Charging will recommence after 10 seconds if the battery is still con-
nected.
Maintenance
May only be carried out by authorised personnel.
Periodically, depending on location, the equipment should be checked and cleaned of
dust etc.
Troubleshooting
May only be carried out by authorised personnel.

Safety shut-off

Charging is interrupted if:
• The recharged number of ampere-hours exceeds the estimated value.
• The charging time for any of the charging phases exceeds the calculated value.
• The voltage and current exceed the approved average value.
• The battery has been disconnected without the charger being switched off.
Charging will be temporarily interrupted or reduced if:
The temperature exceeds the permitted values.
Check of error messages
SMC-HF 3200
When the battery charger's built-in self-test detects a fault, this is indicated by the
LEDs. A red flashing LED indicates a charging fault. A permanent red light indicates a
fault in the charger.
