STARTING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Mix gas with oil. Fill fuel tank (A, Fig. 3) with fuel/oil
mixture. See Oil and Fuel Mixing Instructions.
2. Fill the oil tank (B) with correct chain and bar oil
(Fig. 3).
3. Be certain the Chain Brake
before starting unit (Fig. 3).
4. Press red STOP switch to the "I" ON position (Fig.
4).
5. Pull out the choke (D) to the point where it latches in
place. (Fig. 5)
6. Push the primer bulb (E) 10 times. (Fig. 6)
7. Latch throttle advance: depress latch and hold (F)
squeeze throttle trigger (G) release trigger and then
the latch. (Fig. 7)
8. Place saw on a firm flat surface. Hold saw firmly as
shown. (Fig. 8)
NOTE: MTD1635 uses easy start, which significantly
reduces the effort required to start the engine. You must
pull the starter rope out far enough to hear the engine
attempt to start. There is no need to pull the rope
briskly-- there is no harsh resistance when pulling. Be
aware that this starting method is vastly different from
(and much easier than) what you may be used to.
NOTE: MTD1435 has normal starting system, if the
engine sounds as if it wants to start before the 4th pull,
end the pulling of the starter and proceed as described in
the next step.
9. Push in the choke (D) as far it will go. (Fig. 9)
10. Hold saw firmly and pull rope until saw starts. This
could take 4 more pulls.
11. Let the engine run for 10 seconds to warm up. Press
the trigger (H) and put it into idle. (Fig. 10)
12. If the engine does not start up, repeat the above
steps.
