3. INSTALLATION

Before installing the tralift™ hoist make the following
checks:
1. Check that the hoist is in good condition.
2. Check that the load to be lifted is less than or equal
to the WLL* of the hoist.
3. Check that the hook (item 2, fig. 1) and the safety
latches (item 6, fig. 1) are in good condition.
4. Check that the end of the load chain, slack strand
side, is secured to the low limit stop of the hoist (item
4, fig. 1).
GB
5. Check that the markings comply with §9.
6. Check that the pulley block shows no signs of
damage and that the load sheave turns freely.
7. When using a hoist with load chain com prising
several strands, make sure that the strands are
neither tangled or twisted.
8. Check that the load chain is neither twisted or
damaged.
9. Check that the hand chain is in place and is not
tangled with the load chain.
10. Make sure that the strength of the hoist anchor point
is greater than or equal to the load to be lifted.
After successfully completing the preliminary checks,
install the tralift™ hoist on its anchoring point and
perform the following checks:
1. Check that the tralift™ hoist is properly suspended
by its suspension hook (item 5, fig. 1) and that the
hook safety catch (item 6, fig. 1) is properly closed
(see figs 2 and 3).
2. Check that the load chain has not been subjected to
any torsion when setting up, in particular for the two-
strand version (see fig.4).
3. Without a load, check the "Lifting" and "Lowering"
functions (see §4.3).
4. When using the hoist with a push suspension trolley,
without load, check that the trolley moves freely. If
using a geared suspension trolley, without load,
check the direction of movement by pulling on the
trolley hand chain. The movement should be carried
out on a strictly horizontal plane.
After successfully completing these checks, place the
load in position and ensure:
1. the anchoring accessory of the load sits fully in the
hook and does not prevent the catch from closing
correctly (see figs. 2 and 3).
6
2. the load on the hoist is free to align itself with the
machine's anchoring point.

4. OPERATION

4.1. Operating principle
The tralift™ hoist is actuated using the hand chain
which you must pull to lift or lower the load applied.
4.2. Installing the lifting hook on the load
rigging point
If installation of the lifting hook requires adjustment of
the chain length, proceed as follows:
1. Make sure that there is no load on the chain.
2. Secure the lifting hook to the load.
3. Slightly tension the load chain by pulling on the RH
strand of the hand chain.
4.3. Maneuvering the hoist
Facing the load pulley, proceed as follows to lift or lower
the load:
4.3.1. To lift the load, pull on the RH strand of
the hand chain
4.3.2. To lower the load, pull on the LH strand
of the hand chain
Do not operate the chain too quickly as this can result
in jolts when lifting or lowering a load. The hand chain
should be pulled by a smooth, regular action to avoid
any swinging of the load.
4.4. Important additional instructions
When taking the tralift™ hoist out of service ensure that
there is no load applied and that the load chain is slack
enough to enable the bottom hook to be removed from
the load.

5. STORAGE

It is recommended that the hoist be stored hanging so
that the load chain does not become tangled. Store the
hoist in a dry and weather-proof area. Before storage
clean the load chain with a brush and lubricate with
machine oil.

6. LOAD CHAIN

The good condition of the load chain is a guarantee of
safety and at the same time the good operation of the
