SIRIUS
Control Devices, Pushbutton Units and Pilot Lights
Operating Instructions
Read and understand these instructions before installing,
operating, or maintaining the equipment.
DANGER
!
Hazardous voltage.
Will cause death or serious injury.
Disconnect power before working on equipment.
CAUTION
Reliable functioning of the equipment is only ensured with
certified components.
Mounting
No special tools are required for mounting and removing the products of the
SIRIUS series. (Exception: pushbuttons with extended stroke: 3SX1707 assem-
bly spanner required for ring nuts). The 3SB3921-0BC assembly tool is required
for removal of the covering caps for all metal actuators and indicators and for
indicators made of plastic material.
The lighting elements can be accessed and replaced by removing the covering
caps. In the case of lampholders with an integrated LED, the lighting element
cannot be replaced separately.
The contact blocks and lampholders are snapped on by means of a knuckle
joint.

contact - spring-type terminal
4. When using label holders for inscription plate 12.5 mm x 27 mm
5. When using label holders for inscription plate 27 mm x 27 mm
In the case of mushroom pushbuttons, push-pull buttons and
EMERGENCY OFF / EMERGENCY STOP DEVICE units, note mushroom diam-
eter D = 32, D = 40 mm or D = 60 mm.
Observe outer diameter D=60 mm for illuminatable backing plates.

Mounting the holder, Fig. Va, b
The holder for round actuators can be used for two ranges of front plate thick-
nesses. As delivered, the holder is set to the thickness of 1 to 4 mm, Fig. Va and
is mounted from behind onto the actuator / indicator in the direction of the arrow
x 1 - 4 mm x. The fixing screw is located underneath, on the right.
For a front plate thickness of 3 to 6 mm the holder is reversed and mounted in
the direction of the arrow x 3 - 6 mm x. In this case the fixing screw must be
turned anti-clockwise to the stop before the holder is put in place, Fig. Vb.
Square actuators can be mounted in 1 to 4 mm switchboards.
When using label holders, protective covers or similar accessories, the maxi-
mum permissible thickness of the front panel must be reduced to that of the
thickness of the accessory.
Mounting the contact blocks and lampholders, Fig. VI
The contact block is positioned to the rear of the actuator and pressed onto the
rear to snap into place, Fig. VIa. Without accessories, a maximum of two con-
tact blocks or one lampholder can be mounted.
If three contact blocks or one lampholder and one / two contact blocks are
required, before the contact blocks are snapped on the holder must be mounted
on the actuator, Fig. VIb.
The holder is included in the scope of delivery with all illuminated actuators (with
the exception of indicators). When mounting three contact blocks with a selector
switch, key-operated switch and twin pusbutton unit, an expansion adaptor
equipped with two pressure supports is required (not supplied). Depending on
the switching configuration of the middle contact block, it may be possible to
remove the pressure supports. Pressure supports being used are secured using
the slides on the actuator. Fig. VIc. To disassemble the contact blocks, use a
screwdriver to press on the knuckle joint of the contact block, Fig. VId.
Connection of the conductor to contact blocks with spring-loaded terminal
connections, Fig. VII
Mounting the lamp transformer, Fig. VIIIa
The transformer is snapped onto a BA9s lampholder with screw terminals. The
terminals of the lampholder must be tightened. In addition to the lampholder, two
1-pole contact blocks with screw terminals can be fitted. To remove the trans-
former, the snap hooks on the lamp transformer must be released from the lam-
pholder with a screwdriver, Fig. VIIIb.
Replacing lamps, Fig. IX
Lighting elements can be replaced from the front without disassembling the con-
trol device (exception: lampholder with integrated LED. The LED is permanently
fixed in the mount). To do this, the handle of the actuators / indicators must be
removed first, Figs. IXa to h.
For lamp change see Fig. i and j.

Mounting the insert labels (accessory), Fig. IXc / d
The insert label is inserted between the cap A and button B.
Insert labels can only be used with illuminated pushbuttons and illuminated
pushbutton switches.
Lock with key control
The enclosed 3SB3901-0AB holder should be used for the lock with key control.
The key is queried by means of a single-pole 3SB3 NC switching element which
is snapped into the center position.
The switch positions must be queried via other 3SB3 switching elements
snapped onto the actuator.
The key must be manually repositioned to zero.
