CONNECTING THE BATTERY TO THE
ENGINE
The engine is equipped with an alternator
to allow use of a remote battery. The
engine can also be connected to the
vehicle battery.
Remove the cable from
the negative (-)
terminal of the battery before making any
connections to the engine or when servicing.
1. Use a 12 volt battery with an ampere-
hour rating of at least 18 AH.
2. Remove the nut from the left terminal
of the starter solenoid. Connect the
positive (+) cable to this terminal and
reinstall the nut (see Figure 6).
3. Connect the negative (-) cable to an
engine mounting bolt, frame bolt, or
other good engine ground connection.
4. Reattached the negative cable to the
battery.
