Method of operation and use

When it is actuated, the emergency buffer converts kinetic energy into deformation
energy. It has a direct effect on the outer slide of a linear axis.
The emergency buffer type NPE-... has been designed for reducing material dam-
age as a result of faults in commissioning or programming. Considerable stress
occurs in the slide bearing. If the emergency buffer is used very often, the bearing
may be damaged. Emergency buffers are not intended for use as a permanent
cushioning element.
It is permitted for use on Festo electric linear axes with recirculating ball guide
(type designation DGE-...-KF). They are not permitted for use with linear axes of
heavy duty design (type designation DGE-...-HD..).

Transport and storage

Store the emergency buffer under the following conditions:
– at room temperature
– at normal humidity
– in an air permeable container or softener (no plastic or paper bags)
– protected from intense light.
