SPECIAL WARNINGS

• Install the product in a position that is difficult to reach to
avoid intentional damage.
• Do not install the product near possible hot or cold air cur-
rents or where there are hot-blooded animals (fig. 1).
• If the area to be protected is subject to the presence of
domestic animals, HSDOM21/22 should be positioned at
an adequate height and directed correctly to maintain the
sensitivity area at 50-70 cm from the ground, as shown in
fig. 2 (vertical view); the sensor sensitivity value may also
be reduced if required.
• Never install HSDOM21/22 in locations subject to direct
sunlight, to avoid internal overheating; the sun does not
cause damage to the product but may vary the sensitivity of
the infrared detector, thus impairing the effect of the ambi-
ent temperature compensation function, which is different
from the internal product temperature.
• Never use HSDOM21/22 to protect external areas subject
to adverse weather conditions, such as snow or heavy rain,
as these may cause false alarms.
• The equipment described in this manual must be installed
and set up by specialised technicians, in accordance with
applicable legislation and taking care not to partially or
completely obscure the device's field of view.
This product is a dual technology volumetric presence de-
tector: infrared (PIR) and microwave radar (MW). It covers
an area up to 12 m long, with an opening angle of 90°. In
addition, HSDOM22 offers coverage from 12 to 22m, with
a narrow beam. It is fitted with sensitivity adjustment, alarm
type selection (immediate or on second pulse) and protec-
tion against opening and removal. It is suitable for use in
protected outdoor environments. Any other use is to be
considered improper and is strictly prohibited! Nice
declines all liability for any damage resulting from
improper use of the product and any use other than
specified in this manual.
1 - OPERATION
HSDOM21/22 is a dual technology volumetric presence de-
tector (PIR = passive infra-red detector + MW = micro wave
Doppler detector) designed to detect a person moving inside
the protected zone. The two different technologies reduce
the possibility of improper alarms due to environmental fac-
tors. Correctly position and adjust the product for optimal
operation. In the most extreme cases, to further reduce the
risk of improper alarms, two detectors may be installed in the
same area, in opposed mode and setting the control unit to
the "AND" function (see control unit instruction manual). The
use of the adjustable joint mod. HSA3 (optional accessory)
allows the product to be correctly positioned, in particular for
installation in corners (see chap. 2 - Installation).
Caution! – Joint HSA3 is not IMQ certified and does not
comply with standard EN50131.
HSDOM21/22 works with 3 AA type alkaline batteries; it has
no external electrical connection and if intrusion is detected,
it transmits the alarm to the control unit via radio.
In the product, the infrared detector is always active and,
