category 2 (as double check valve in the UK
against category 3 fluids).

Installation and commissioning instructions
The installation and commissioning of a
backflow preventer EA FC shall be carried out
by qualified personnel. For periodically testing
and maintenance a EA-unit should be installed,
i.e. with a stop valve in front of the device. In
accordance with the EU-norm, to execute this
test, the EA FC is already fitted with a test port
and a tap.

Introduction
This flanged controllable anti-pollution check
valve EA FC is dedicated to be installed as
backflow prevention device in potable water
installations and other sanitary appliances. (in
accordance with the EN1717:EA). This device
can also be used in processes like distribution
networks and pump houses.

Before installing the protection unit EA FC, the
upstream piping shall be flushed thoroughly.
Because of the size of a flanged check valve, it
is not easy to perform this test. For this reason
it is easier and quicker and finally cheaper to
exchange the modular check valve cartridge
for a new module. The article numbers for this
you may find on page 20.
The EA-unit must be readily accessible to
allow access for testing, repair and possible
replacement of the check valve cartridge. The
unit must be protected against freezing.
