CONFIGURATION FOR FAILURE DETECTION IN MAIN WARNING
LIGHTS
Under the legislation of certain European Community countries, it is obligatory to fit an indicator
to warn the driver of the failure of one of the main warning lights. In these countries the amplifier will be
configured according to the type and number of warning lights used. The AS-422 siren amplifier has two
types of detectors for this purpose, depending on whether the main warning lights are rotating or strobe
lights.
We can choose whether or not to detect lamp failure by means of the 3 internal bridges (JP1, JP2,
JP3). If detection is chosen, we can also select the type of main warning light to be controlled (rotating/
strobe lights) and the number of lights installed.
1) ROTATING LIGHTS
If one or two ROTATING lights exist, the amplifier is fitted with current detectors which sense the
operating current of the rotating lights and can thus detect a "lamp failure". Detection of "lamp failure"
can be effected with either one rotating light, or both. See wiring diagrams 2 or 3:

When a lamp failure occurs, the key corresponding to "MAIN WARNING LIGHTS" will flash
and the siren sound will be cancelled.
2) STROBE LIGHTS
If the main warning lights are STROBE LIGHTS, a connection with the power supply unit warns
of the failure of any of the lamps. See Wiring diagram 4: "Lamp failure" detection in both strobe lights
(detection is via the PINK wire: "LAMP FAILURE").
In this case the position of the internal bridges would be: (See

When a lamp failure occurs, the key corresponding to "MAIN WARNING LIGHTS" will flash
and the siren sound will be cancelled.
