MP3 Playback

MP3
MP3 is a method of compressing fi les. You can copy MP3 fi les on CD-RW/-R
from the personal computer and play the fi les on this unit.

Insert an CD-RW/-R with MP3 fi les, playback starts
automatically.
• Press [PLAY B] if the disc is already inserted.
• Press [MENU] when you want to call up the file list.
When selecting the folder:
• Press [Cursor B] when you want to go to the next
hierarchy.
or
• Press [Cursor s] when you want to go back to the
previous hierarchy (except for the top hierarchy).
• If [TOP MENU] is pressed when a file list is displayed,
the 1st item in the top hierarchy will be highlighted.
• Press [MENU] or [RETURN] to go back to playback
display.

Press [STOP C] once to stop playback temporarily.
• Refer to "Resume Playback" on page 28.
Note:
• Some selections may take a while to be recognized.
• Folders are known as Groups; files are known as Tracks.
• Folders, MP3 files are displayed respectively as
• A maximum of 255 folders or 999 files may be recognized in
one disc.
• Up to 8 hierarchies can be recognized in one folder. Files in
the 9th or deeper hierarchies cannot be played back.
• This unit can play back picture and sounds from data record-
ed in MP3 formats on CD-RW/-R discs.
• A file with an extension of ".mp3 (MP3)" is called an "MP3 file".
• The unit can run an image file conforming to the Exif specifi-
cation. Exif is a file format, Exchangeable Image File format
established by Japanese Electronic Industry Development
Association (JEIDA).
• Files whose extension is other than ".mp3 (MP3)" will not be
listed in the file list.
• If the file is not recorded in MP3 format, noise may be pro-
duced even if the file extension is either ".mp3 (MP3)".
• The name of folder and file can be displayed in up to 25
characters. Unrecognizable characters will be replaced with
asterisks.
• Unplayable folders or files may be displayed depending on
the recording conditions.

44.1 kHz or 48 kHz
Constant bit rate:
32 kbps ~ 320 kbps
Remarks
For MP3 file recorded in Variable Bit
Rate (VBR), the unit may not display
the actual elapsed time.
