The "Adler" / "Eagle" Historic Passenger Train
with a Locomotive with Tender
The prototype of this locomotive and its cars is the
museum train that has been part of the operational
rolling stock since 1935 of the Nürnberg Transpor-
tation Museum. The design for this train was ama-
zingly far reaching for its time, and its reconstruc-
th
tion for the 100
anniversary of railroading in
Germany has allowed the present generation to
experience this train in operation.
The entire design is proof of the high level of
experience already acquired at this time by the
English locomotive construction firm of Robert
Stephenson. The otherwise usual lost of heat was
thus minimized by installing the steam cylinders in
the lower area of the smokebox. The dimensions of
the steam appliances were also correctly calcula-
ted for what was possible at that time.
The typical look of this historic passenger train
is the locomotive with its tender together with 4
different passenger cars of different classes, just
as it has been realized in this train set.
