General Specifications:
•
The Super Magnum series transmission is rated for 700 lb-ft of continuous torque. However this rating may be affected
by conditions other than engine output, such as use, gross vehicle weight, clutch selection, tire selection, etc.
Your Super Magnum transmission requires approximately 8 pints of Dexron III type ATF. NOTE: The use of fluids other

than specified may void warranty.
Break-In Procedure:
•
Super Magnum transmissions use a sophisticated synchronizer system. For optimal performance and product longevity,
it is important to properly "break-in" the unit prior to attempting any high-rpm shifts.
•
Break-in schedule should last no less than 500 miles, and include frequent upshifts and downshifts through all forward
gears in order to properly "seat" mechanical surfaces.
NOTE: Performing shifts at Wide Open Throttle (WOT) or without appropriate use of the clutch may damage unit regardless
of mileage, torque levels, or break-in procedure, and are not covered by warranty.
Installation Instructions:
IMPORTANT: Please take all necessary safety precautions; including protective clothing and proper securing of vehicle.
The aid of a floor jack or transmission jack for transmission installation and/or removal is strongly recommended. The use
of a ratchet-type strap to secure transmission to jack platform is also recommended. Installation should be completed by
two persons in order to steady and properly align transmission. Never use transmission-to-bellhousing bolts to "draw-in"
the transmission. This may permanently damage the transmission or clutch disc.
1. If using the Chevrolet Performance Transmission installation kit, refer to those instructions first. If using other clutch,
flywheel, or bellhousing, refer to those instructions.
NOTE: Dial indicating the bell housing to ensure proper tolerances should be performed if not using CPP bell housing
and New CPP Crate Engine assembly Input shaft pilot must be within .005" runout of engine crankshaft centerline as
measured from the pilot bearing. Rebuilt or remanufactured engines that are not properly line bored often suffer pattern
distortion. If excessive runout exists, offset dowel pins must be used to correct the condition (not included in kit). Failure
to adhere to specified runout tolerance may result in excessive noise, vibrations, increased shift effort, and/or premature
failure of transmission not covered by warranty.
2. Install eight transmission-to-bellhousing bolts and torque to 31-40 lb-ft.
3. Continue to support trans with trans jack and install trans mount using two bolts. Torque to 31-40 lb-ft.
4. Install crossmember. Torque to manufacturer's specification.
