2 Safety

Spectrophotometers UV-2005 include the safety measures suitable for a safety ope-
ration in a laboratory.
This equipment has been designed to be used by technicians who have been quali-
fied for its use. For the correct and safety use of this equipment it is important that
the laboratory staff know the safety general procedures, together with the safety
precautions explained in this manual.
Some of the chemical products used in this spectrophotometer are corrosive and/or
inflammable and the samples can be radioactive, toxic or potentially infectious. Be
careful to follow the safety standardized procedures in laboratories for samples and
chemical products manipulation.
The risky situations are indicated along this manual by means of the safety
icons and together with some instructions that must be respected.

They identify risky situations and the safety measures to be taken.
The icons make reference to the paragraph marked in grey.
Danger risk
Risk of danger.
Please, respect the instructions indicated to do the described operation.
Corrosive substances contact risk
There's a contact risk of hard bases or acids that easily attack the skin, cloths and
other materials.

Electric risk
Risk of electric accident when accessing the areas labeled with this signal or when
doing the operations indicated with this icon in the present manual.

Burn risk due to contact with high temperature areas
The temperature in the area indicated by this icon can exceed 60ºC. Please, use
thermal resistant gloves to do the described operation.
