7. If the unit does not operate as described, DO NOT use

inspected and adjusted or repaired.
Speed Control Rod Adjustment
If the speed control rod requires adjustment, see an
Authorized Service Dealer.
Adjusting the Steering Control Cable
DANGER
The snowthrower contains an auger and impeller that
throws snow. Fingers or feet can quickly become caught in
the auger or impeller that can result in traumatic amputation
or severe laceration.
• Turn the engine OFF. Wait for all moving parts to stop,
and remove the ignition key or push/pull key before
maintenance or repairs.
The steering control cable can stretch slightly after repeated
usage during the first season of operation. If the cable has
stretched, it can prevent the drive gears from disengaging
while the control activates.
1. Turn the engine OFF and remove the ignition key or
push/pull key.
2. With both steering control levers released, rock the unit
back and forth so that both wheels are engaged (not free-
wheeling).
3. Lift the adjuster cover (A, Figure 28) up and away from
the adjuster.
4. Use a wrench to hold stationary the adjuster tube (B).
Use another wrench to loosen the jam nut.
5. Push the steering control lever down until it stops.
6. Turn the adjuster clockwise or counterclockwise to get
a small amount of play in the lever before the steering
control operates.
7. Use a wrench to hold stationary the adjuster tube. Use
another wrench to tighten the jam nut.
8. Lower the adjuster cover onto the adjuster.
9. Do the same procedure for the other steering control
cable.
10. Test 1 - Left Side Steering Control
Lift and hold the left steering control lever. The wheel
should roll freely
11. Test 2 - Right Side Steering Control
Lift and hold the right steering control lever. The wheel
should roll freely

Replacing the Scraper Bar
DANGER
The snowthrower contains a rotating auger and impeller
that throws snow. Fingers or feet can quickly become
caught in the rotating auger or impeller resulting in traumatic
amputation or severe laceration.
• Turn the engine OFF, wait for all moving parts to stop,
and remove the ignition key or push/pull key before
maintenance or repairs.
After some time, the scraper bar will gradually wear and need
replacement.
1. Turn the engine OFF and remove the ignition key or
push/pull key.
2. Loosen the retaining nuts (A, Figure 29) and bolts (B) and
remove the scraper bar (C).
3. Align the holes in the new scraper bar with the holes on
the auger housing.
4. Install the retaining nuts and bolts, and tighten them.
5. Check the clearance between the scraper bar and the
surface.
6. Adjust the skid shoes, if necessary, to maintain ground
clearance for the type of surface being cleared.
See Adjusting the Skid Shoe Height.
