Procedure
milliohmmeter
Check that the circuit / resistance to be tested is NOT LIVE and is
discharged.
Note: a measurement temperature below 0 ° C may make it impossible to read the
display unit.
4-wire method
1 – perform the preliminary checks mentioned above
2 – connect the test cables to the resistance to be measured, observing the
following rules:
- the leads connected to C1 and C2 must always be outside the leads connected to
P1 and P2 (with respect to the resistance to be measured)
- make the leads connected to P1 and P2 of the potential circuit as short as
possible; excessively long leads introduce noise in the result.
3 – choose the measurement range; begin with the lowest range.
4 – press TEST-ON to start the measurement:
pressing for 2-seconds starts a short measurement
pressing for > 3 seconds starts a 60-second measurement
This method has the advantage of not including the resistance of the measuring
cables, the contact resistances, or resistances R
result.
In some cases, when the resistance to be measured is very high (2,000 Ω range),
this measurement accuracy is not necessary.
The simplified measurement method can then be used.
Simplified measurement method
This method includes the resistance of the measuring cables in the result. It must
therefore be used only when the resistance measured is high.
This method consists in using simplified test leads: C1 and P1 are short-circuited
as well as C2 and P2.
