Detach Lower Spring Retainer (22) from
Cable (17).
•
Remove existing Spring (20) and replace
with appropriate Spring (20).
•
Attach Lower Spring Retainer (21) to Cable
(17).
•
Replace Spring Housing (22) onto
assembly.
Warranty
The TKO 1500™ is designed and manufactured
to provide long and trouble free service. It is
warranted against defective materials and
workmanship for a period of one year, which
begins 30-days from date of purchase. To insure
proper service, it is recommended that the TKO
1500™ be lubricated and inspected every six
months for signs of unusual wear.
Six Month Inspection -
Visual Inspection Checklist:
•
No cracks in housing.
•
No cracks in bumper.
•
No cracks in knee cap.
•
Proper swing phase resistance.
•
Friction pad not worn excessively.
•
Excessive M-L play.
•
Noise or instability.
Cleaning:
•
Wipe the knee with a soft cloth moistened
with a small amount of kerosene.
NOTE: Do not use any solvent stronger than
kerosene. Do not dip the whole knee or pour
solvent over the knee, or bearings and seals will
be damaged. Do not use compressed air to
clean the knee. Air will force pollutants into the
bearings causing malfunctions and early
deterioration.
Lubrication Instructions:
•
To maintain proper function of the TKO
1500™, it should be lubricated every 6
months.
•
Friction pads (part # 1510) and Bumpers
(part # 1500-kit) can be replaced if worn.
I.
Back out the friction adjustment screw.
II.
Remove the two (18) knee cap attachment
screws.

III. Remove the knee cap and friction assembly
from the knee.
IV. Insert 5-10 drops of lightweight oil (i.e. 3-in-
1® or sewing machine) into the lube
access hole on one side only. NOTE:
Special lightweight oil is available (part
#1500-025).
V.
Remove bi-metallic friction pad and
urethane pad with a small flat screwdriver.
Replace friction pad assembly with
urethane side down. Attach with one drop
of Loctite #495 glue.
VI. Reattach the knee cap and friction
assembly to the knee.
VII. Loctite (using Loctite #243) and torque
knee cap attachment to 3 Nm (2 ft-lbs).
VIII. Adjust the friction to desired setting using
the friction adjustment screw. Do not
exceed 4 Nm (3 ft-lbs) of torque.
Do not expose the knee to moisture or sand.
This may cause the knee to malfunction.

Commonly Asked Questions
Q
There's too much terminal impact:
A - Tighten the friction adjustment
screw.
- Use the light duty extension assist spring.
- If the knee has not been serviced for a
while check the friction pad under the knee
cap for damage or wear.
Replacement pads are available.
- Clean any oil or film found on the brake
surface.

The knee is too stable:
A - Adjust the pyramid system. Tilt the
