3.0 INSTALLATION

WARNING:
Never use the ISO Container Fall Arrest Post in any other hole or geometry unless approved in writing by
Capital Safety.

3.4 Lock Fall Arrest Post in ISO corner casting. Push down the sliding lock from the unlocked position
(D - Figure 7) to the locked position. (F - Figure 7)
3.5 Only connect PFAS to the ISO Fall Arrest Post tie-off point. (G - Figure 8). Never connect the safety system to
the lifting handle. (H - Figure 8)
NOTE: Do not use horizontal life lines between ISO Container Fall Arrest Posts. (Figure 9)
Maximum fall exposure angle can not exceed 22 degrees. (Figure 10)
NOTE: The ISO Container Fall Arrest Post is for the use of one person only.
4.0 SYSTEM USE
WARNING: Do not alter or intentionally misuse this equipment. Consult with Capital Safety if using
this equipment in combination with components or subsystems other than those described in this
manual. Some subsystems and components combinations may interfere with the proper operation of this
equipment. Use caution when using this equipment around moving machinery, electrical and chemical
hazards, and sharp edges.
4.1
BODY SUPPORT: When using this Capital Safety system it is recommended that a full body harness be
worn.
4.2
CONNECTING TO THE SYSTEM: Approach the work area using the appropriate access equipment. Connect
the personal fall arrest system (the free snap hook on the energy absorbing lanyard or carabiner attached to
the SRL) to the tie-off points. Connectors must meet all compatibility and strength requirements.
4.3
IN THE EVENT OF A FALL: The responsible party must have a rescue plan and the ability to implement a
rescue. Tolerable suspension time in a full body harness is limited, so a prompt rescue is critical.
4.4
RESCUE: With the number of potential scenarios for a worker requiring rescue, an on-site rescue team
is beneficial. The rescue team is given the tools, both in equipment and techniques, so it can perform a
successful rescue. Training should be provided on a periodic basis to ensure rescuers' proficiency.
4.5
SYSTEM REMOVAL: When no longer required, the system should be removed from the job site.
4.6
NORMAL OPERATION: If a fall has been arrested, the system must be taken out of service. See Section
6.0.
5.0 TRAINING
It is the responsiblity of all users of this equipment to understand these instructions, and are trained in
the correct installation, use, and maintenance of this equipment. These individuals must be aware of the
consequences of improper installation or use of this equipment. This user manual is not a substitute for a
comprehensive training program. Training must be provided on a periodic basis to ensure profi ciency of the
users.
WARNING: Training must be conducted without exposing the trainee to a fall hazard. Training should be
repeated on a periodic basis.
6.0 INSPECTION
6.1
BEFORE EACH INSTALLATION AND USE: Inspect the ISO Container Fall Arrest Post and other system
components according to these or other manufacturers' instructions. Inspect as follows:
• Conduct a visual check of every installation before each use of the ISO Container Fall Arrest Post.
• Check that all nuts and bolts are secure.
• Check that the tieoff points are secure and do not swivel.
