SAFETY OF OTHERS

f This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
f Children should be supervised to ensure that they
do not play with the appliance.

RESIDUAL RISKS

Additional residual risks may arise when using the tool
which may not be included in the enclosed safety warnings.
These risks can arise from misuse, prolonged use etc.
Even with the application of the relevant safety regulations
and the implementation of safety devices, certain residual
risks cannot be avoided. These include:
f Injuries caused by touching any rotating/moving parts.
f Injuries caused when changing any parts, blades or
accessories.
f Injuries caused by prolonged use of a tool. When
using any tool for prolonged periods ensure you take
regular breaks.
f Impairment of hearing.
f Health hazards caused by breathing dust developed
when using your tool (example: working with wood,
especially oak, beech and MDF).
SAFETY WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS
BATTERIES
f DO NOT disassemble or open, drop (mechanical
abuse), crush, bend or deform, puncture, or shred.
f DO NOT modify or remanufacture, attempt to insert
foreign objects into the battery, immerse or expose
to water or other liquids, or expose to fire, excessive
heat including soldering irons, or put in microwave oven.
f ONLY use the battery with a charging system specified
by the manufacturer/supplier.
f DO NOT short-circuit a battery or allow metallic or
conductive objects to contact both battery terminals
simultaneously.
f Dispose of used batteries promptly according to the
manufacturer/supplier's instructions.
f Improper battery use may result in a fire, explosion,
or other hazard.
f Battery usage by children should be supervised.
f If battery contents come into contact with
the skin, immediately wash area with mild soap
and water. If battery liquid gets into the eye, rinse
water over the open eye for 15 minutes or until
irritation ceases. If medical attention is needed,
the battery electrolyte for Lithium-Ion batteries is
composed of a mixture of liquid organic carbonates
and lithium salts.
f Contents of opened battery cells may cause
respiratory irritation. Provide fresh air. If symptoms
persist, seek medical attention.
Warning! Burn hazard. Battery liquid may be flammable if
exposed to spark or flame.
f Charge the battery packs only in BLACK+DECKER
chargers.
f DO NOT splash or immerse in water or other liquids.
This may cause premature cell failure.
f DO NOT store or use the tool and battery pack in
locations where the temperature may reach or exceed
105°F (40°C) (such as outside sheds or metal
buildings in summer).
Warning! Never attempt to open the battery for any
reason. If battery case is cracked or damaged, do not sert
into charger. Do not crush, drop or damage battery.
f DO NOT use a battery or charger that has received
a sharp blow, been dropped, run over or damaged
in any way (i.e., pierced with a nail, hit with a hammer,
stepped on).
f Damaged batteries should be returned to service
center for recycling.
Warning! Fire hazard. Do not store or carry battery so
that metal objects can contact exposed battery terminals.
For example, do not place battery in aprons, pockets,
tool boxes, product kit boxes, drawers, etc., with loose
nails, screws, keys, etc.
Transporting batteries can possibly cause fires if
the battery terminals inadvertently come in contact
with conductive materials such as keys, coins, hand
tools and the like. The US Department of Transportation
Hazardous Material Regulations (HMR) actually prohibit
transporting batteries in commerce or on airplanes (i.e.,
packed in suitcases and carry-on luggage) UNLESS they
are properly protected from short circuits. So when
transporting individual batteries, make sure that the
battery terminals are protected and well insulated from
materials that could contact them and cause a short circuit.
Note: Lithium-Ion batteries should not be put in checked
baggage.
CHARGER
1. This manual contains important safety and operating
instructions.
2. Before using battery charger, read all instructions and
cautionary warnings on battery charger and product
using battery.
