2. Preperations for Use
WARNING
For safety reasons, use only the genuine REMS drive unit for REMS Twist or
REMS Hurrican. The use of other units could lead to operator injury and tool
damage. And it voids the warranty!
If the expander insert has been removed from the expander tool, it must be
inserted by rotating it manually
can the drive unit be used for fur her rotation. Otherwise, the thread could get
damaged!
2.1. Electrical connection
WARNING
Before connecting the power supply, check to ensure that the mains voltage
corresponds to the voltage given on the machine rating plate.
Select the expander tool that corresponds to he pipe size (Fig.1(1)). Insert the
expander tool on the drive unit and tighten with wing screw (2). This design
permits the electric expander to be hand-held and used any where.
The expander tool can also be bolted to a workbench (Fig. 2). Use nuts and
bolts or wood screws for this purpose. Care must be taken to ensure that the
drive unit is freely accessible and can be operated properly.
The expander tool can also be clamped in a vise. In this case, care must be
taken to ensure that the clamping height of 15 mm is not exceeded (Fig.3).
3. Operation
ping spindle (4). Set drive unit for clockwise (right-hand) rotation (5). Press
push switch (6) all the way. The mandrel pin will now rotate into the end of the
pipe and expand it. At the end of the expansion procedure, the expander insert
contacts the housing. The drive unit's slip clutch responds. Release the push
switch immediately, set the reversing lever to anticlockwise (left-hand) rotation
(7), and slowly
remove the pipe.
NOTICE
Never operate the reversing lever while the drive unit is in operation!
Be sure to attach holder (Fig. 7 (10)) to the drive unit (Danger of accident
through counter-torque!). Insert drill head into the drive unit's hexagon mount
and set pipe diameter. Apply drill head to centre of pipe and drill until the drill
head's stop ring contacts the pipe (Fig. 7). Remove drill head. Insert tool holder
of hexagon mount. Spread arms of extractor tool and insert in hole. Close
extractor tool and insert in tool holder (Fig. 10). Set drive unit to anticlockwise
the way to complete he extraction procedure. Set drive unit to clockwise (right-
hand) rotation and allow vee to reverse out. Remove tool from tool holder (rotate
another (Fig. 11) for positioning the pipe.
3.3. Lubricant
From time to time, the mandrel pins and extractor tools should be lubricated
lightly wi h the supplied lubricant (Art. No. 151240).

are worn, the motor will not start again after being switched off and on. The carbon
brushes shall only be replaced by REMS or an au horized REMS service centre.
