Placement of the diodes on the supports
Fasten one of the supports in the bench vise with
protection on the vise jaws, so that the side for the
placement of diodes (side with finishing), is accessible.
Place three diodes of the same polarity (AND or CTD)
in the support. Tighten with torque wrench observing
the mounting torques described below.
Fasten the other support in the vise, just like the
previous support.
Place, in this support, three diodes of polarity opposite
to the previous three diodes (AND or CTD).
Use the torque wrench observing torque table for
mounting

8.6 DRYING METHODS FOR THE
WINDINGS
This operation must be done with extreme care and by
qualified personnel only.
Dismantle the alternator and take only the frame with the
wound stator or the rotor without bearings
Full drying is reached with the part in the oven, 7 hours at
150 °C.
During the drying process, the temperature must be
carefully controlled.
At the beginning of the process, the insulation resistance
will decrease as a consequence of the temperature rise,
increasing as the insulation is dehumidified.
The drying process must continue until successive
measurements of the insulation resistance indicate it has
reached the minimum indicated value.
The winding is more effectively dried by hot air stream.
Ensuring that the hot air is dry, fans must be positioned
evenly in the air inlet side.
If the moisture content is too high, space heaters must be
placed between the fans and windings, or use forced air
heaters.
It is important to provide good ventilation inside the
alternator during the drying process to ensure that the
moisture is removed effectively.
The dehumidifying heat can also be obtained by energizing
the alternator resistance or by circulating current through
the windings to be dehumidified.
