The VLD inside debur tool should be installed in high speed station 1. The VLD angle that is put on the case
mouth allows projectiles to start seating much more easily. Installation at station 1 puts this pointed design the
furthest away from the user as to not interfere when using any of the other stations. Lightly pressing the case
mouth onto the VLD tool is all it takes to debur the case mouth. Do not use excessive force and turn the case
mouth into a sharp "cookie cutter"!
The outside Chamfering tool should be installed in high speed station 4. Place the case mouth onto the tool and
use light pressure to remove the burrs left on the case mouth after case length trimming.
MILITARY CRIMP REMOVAL
Military surplus and several commercial cases have a staked/crimped-in primer. Before these cases can be
reprimed, this crimp must be completely removed. The Military Crimp Remover reforms the primer pocket to
one with a smooth commercial type profi le. Two sizes are available—one for small primer pockets and one for
large primer pockets. These can be installed in any of the six rotating stations but RCBS recommends installing in
stations 2, 3, 5 or 6. The RCBS Brass Boss allows this step to be performed quickly and uniformly with the included
small and large Military Crimp Removers.
The Military Crimp Remover cuts a small bevel at the edge of the primer pocket, removing the crimp/staking. This
operation allows new primers to be seated easily and safely.
This operation is required only once for the life of each case.
PRIMER POCKET CLEANERS
A primer pocket cleaner will remove the residue left in the primer pocket and make for easier primer seating.
Both small and large sized cleaners are included. These can be installed in any of the six rotating stations but
RCBS recommends installing in stations 2, 3, 5 or 6. Place the deprimed case primer pocket onto the cleaner
and move slightly side to side. Remove and check to see if all of the primer residue has been removed. If residue
remains, repeat the process.
NOTE: Do not use excessive downward force with the primer pocket cleaners, too much force can cause the cleaner to
remove case material from the bottom of the primer pockets, causing these cases to be discarded.
