5.2 Switch to hub or other switch
These connections can be accomplished in a number of ways using a normal cable:
• A 10BASE-T hub or switch can be connected to the switch via a twisted-pair Category 3, 4 or 5 UTP/STP
cable.
• A 100BASE-TX hub or switch can be connected to the switch via a twisted-pair Category 5 UTP/STP
cable.
• A 1000BASE-T switch can be connected to the switch via a twisted pair Category 5e UTP/STP cable.
• A switch supporting a fiber-optic uplink can be connected to the switch's SFP ports via fiber-optic
cabling.
Note: When the SFP transceiver acquires a link, the associated integrated 10/100/1000BASE-T port is
disabled.
After you have successfully installed the switch, you can configure the switch, monitor the LED panel, and
display statistics graphically using a web browser. Or, you can connect the RS-232 serial to a computer or
terminal with a crossover RS-232 cable for loading factory reset purpose.
