If the area code in the Caller ID matches one of the "extra" local area
codes, the call is marked as "extra." The system leaves the area code
intact when storing the number to the directory or dialing the number
from the call log. The entry will contain and dial the full 10-digit number
(Area Code + Number).

If the area code in the Caller ID matches neither the local area code nor
one of the "extra" local area codes, it is not marked as either "local" or
"extra." The system leaves the full number intact and adds a "1" to the
front of the number when storing the number to the directory. When
storing to the directory or dialing from the call log, the entry will contain
"1 + Area Code + Number."
Setting Area Code for 7-digit Dialing
If you dial local calls using seven digits (for example: 555-1212), then follow these
steps to set up your phone to automatically dial numbers from your Call Log:
1.
Press Menu.
2.
Select "System Settings" and press OK.
3.
Select "Area Codes" and press OK.
4.
Select "Local Code:" and press OK.
5.
Enter your local area code and press OK.
6.
Select "Save Entry" and press OK.
7.
If there are other area codes for which you dial 10 digits (you don't have to dial a
"1" first), enter those area codes as "Extra Codes."
Setting Area Code for 10-digit Dialing
If you dial local calls using ten digits (for example: 303-555-1212), then follow these
steps to set up your phone to automatically dial numbers from your Call Log:
1.
Press Menu.
2.
Select "System Settings" and press OK.
3.
Select "Area Codes" and press OK.
4.
Select "Extra Code:" and press OK. Note: "Local Code" should remain blank.
5.
Enter your area code and press OK.
6.
Select "Save Entry" and press OK,
7.
If there are other area codes for which you dial 10 digits (you don't have to dial a
"1" first), enter those area codes as other "Extra Codes."
