Only use for children who can get in and out of bed unassisted.
• Continue use with the traditional child cot until your child is able to climb out of the cot.
• This Bed Guard should not be used as a substitute for a cot, as it cannot provide the same level of safety
as a cot.
• Not suitable for use with bunk beds, youth beds, inflatable mattresses or waterbeds.
• For use with beds that are a minimum length of 156cm, and mattresses from 10 to 24cm in depth.
• Always ensure that the Bed Guard, when in the locked position or when placed in the fitted position,
is firmly pushed against the mattress.
• Once fitted, the Bed Guard should be checked regularly to ensure that it is properly fitted and secure.
• The Bed Guard should be periodically checked for its general condition with particular reference
to the security of any locking mechanism and/or hinges that are used on the product.
• The Bed Guard should not be used on a sleeping surface that is more than 600mm from the floor.
• Discontinue use if damaged, broken or if parts are missing.
• Conforms to BS7972:2001.

• This product is not a toy. Ensure that children do not play with the Bed
Guard or use as a ladder.
• Always be sure that the Bed Guard is fully extended before use.
WARNING: To prevent the risk of strangulation, it is essential to ensure
that when the Bed Guard is fitted into position, there is a gap of at least
250mm (10") between each end of the bed and the corresponding end
of the bed guard.
Please note that the Bed Guard assembly comes locked into its travel/storage position direct from the box.
Instructions for Assembly
1. Remove the Bed Guard assembly from the box. Lay the rail assembly on a flat surface with the mesh
and frame on top of the support legs (fig 1).
2. Using both hands, raise the frame so that it is 90°to the legs. The plastic button at either end of the
hinge joint will click into place (fig 2).
3. To extend the Bed Guard to its maximum length, pull it open until the concealed locking pin clicks
into place (fig 3).
4. Always be certain to listen for the clicking sound, and feel that the lower locking pin is fully extended
in its concealed central locking position
WARNING: Do not use this Bed Guard until successfully completing this step. It must be fully extended
and secured before use.
1. Once the Bed Guard is fully extended and secured, place the support legs between the base of the bed

and the mattress, ensuring that the Guard itself fits snugly against the mattress (fig 5).
2. Ensure that the bedding does not interfere with the moving parts of the Bed Guard.
3. If using on a slatted base, ensure that the straight edge of each of the support legs sits directly
onto a slat, and that the curved ends of the legs span at least one other slat.
4. This is important to ensure that the rubber grip material on the underside of the legs is in contact
with the base, so that the Bed Guard remains in position.

2. Ideally, the Bed Guard should be positioned so that one end is level with your child's shoulder when he
or she is lying down.
3. It is essential to ensure that the Bed Guard is used with a mattress that is a minimum thickness of 10cm
and a maximum thickness of 24cm.
