EZ-Shot
To Inject and 8-oz Dye Cartridges and 8-oz A/C Lubricant Cartridges,
Fluoro-Lite/P
dye (TP9760-8 for R-134a/PAG systems; TP9725-8 for R-1234yf/PAG systems) and
®
Fluoro-Lite/E
dye (TP9770-8 universal for R-12, R-134a/PAG & R-1234yf/PAG systems) meet or
®
exceed SAE standard J2297 for the stability and compatibility of UV-fluorescent dyes for refrigerant
leak detection in R-134a/PAG & R-1234yf/PAG A/C systems.
Since the use of a fluorescent leak detection dye requires the addition of a chemical substance into
the A/C system which may or may not be compatible with the system, such dyes should not be used
unless they are either expressly endorsed by the A/C system and/or vehicle manufacturer or meet
the requirements of SAE J2297.
PREPARING THE CARTRIDGE AND HOSE ASSEMBLY
Hold the cartridge upright, remove the cap, and screw the cartridge firmly to the check valve on the
hose assembly.
CONNECTING THE CARTRIDGE TO THE INJECTION SYSTEM
TP9749 EZ-Shot injector—
•
Press the thumb release and pull the plunger rod all the way back.
•
Insert the cartridge and hose assembly into the EZ-Shot front load notch.
•
Insert the adapter/purge fitting into the quick coupler on the hose.
•
Squeeze the handle gently to advance the plunger rod until a small amount of dye exits
the assembly.
•
Remove and retain the adapter/purge fitting.
FOR USE WITH OTHER POPULAR CAULKING-GUN INJECTORS
•
Replace the cartridge cap with the injection hose.
•
Slide the bottom section of the 8oz (237 ml) cartridge through the
caulking gun, then lift the bottom end upward (see image to the right).
•
Insert the neck of the cartridge into the holder and slide into position.
The hose assembly is now purged, ready for use and will remain
full of dye. If the hose dye charge is lost, repeat the connection
steps for the appropriate injection system.
NOTE: Do not mix dyes. Always use the dye cartridge with its
designated hose assembly. After using a lubricant cartridge,
remember to use the appropriate dye to flush the hose assembly.

ADDING DYE OR LUBRICANT TO THE SYSTEM
1.
Wear protective glasses or goggles while using the EZ-Shot injector to work on any vehicle
system. Do not connect the dye injector to a system that is evacuated.
2.
a. R-134a/PAG & R-1234yf/PAG SYSTEMS — Connect the quick coupler at the end of the
hose
assembly
b. R-12 SYSTEMS — When using TP9770-8 universal dye only, attach the adapter/purge fitting
to the low side service port on the vehicle and connect the quick coupler attached to the hose
assembly.
3.
To inject the dye or lubricant— squeeze the handle on the EZ-Shot injector. See "Dye Dose" to
determine the recommended dosage.
4.
If excessive resistance is met, the access fitting has not been opened fully. Check that the
hose-fitting connection is tight.
5.
Disconnect the quick coupler from the service port and wipe both clean.
