You may have to lower spare tire to install hitch. Open vehicle rear hatch door and there is a plastic access cover on the floor
underneath the door that must be snapped open to allow access for tool to lower tire. The tool and handle are located
underneath floor panel behind rear seat on driver's side. Remove square ended tube that goes down through access hole and
handle with square hole in it to fit on this tube. Lower spare tire on cable 3 or 4 inches only. It is not necessary to completely
lower or remove spare tire off of cable holder.
2.
Raise hitch into place being careful not to damage plastic rear light housings behind bumper. Hitch mounts to existing
weldnuts located in bottom of frame. Install bolts and conical washers as shown above. Install a flat washer as needed per
side on rear attachments to fill gap between hitch and vehicle frame. Torque bolts to specifications shown below.
3.
Raise spare tire back in to place guiding it forward of the installed hitch. Follow directions on access cover so that you do not
over tighten cable when raising tire.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to
prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working
beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
