1.
Remove rubber square plug (1) in each frame rail. Return to owner.
2.
Detach vehicle wiring plastic fasteners from around frame rail (3) places each side, using a screwdriver or trim panel tool.
3.
Feed carriage bolts and spacers through square access holes into the (2) rearward holes in frame, one on bottom and one on side
of frame rail using the pull wires. Each side. See Figure 2. Leave pull wire attached.
4.
With pull wire attached push the fasteners on the side of the frame rail back into the frame rail. See Figure 3.
5.
Using the reverse pull wire method, feed remaining carriage bolts and spacers (item 2) into frame rail. Each side. See Figure 4.
6.
Raise the hitch into position keeping the vehicle wiring clear of the hitch, and feeding the pull wires though the adjacent holes on
the hitch.
7.
Pull the side fasteners back through the frame rail and the hitch bracket.
8.
Carefully remove pull wires on the forward and side attachment. One at a time place the washer over the pull wire and use it to
hold the bolt in place while carefully removing the pull wire, then attach the hex nut.
9.
Carefully remove pull wires on the rear attachment. One at a time place the spacer (item 5) pull wire and use it to hold the bolt in
place while carefully removing the pull wire, then attach the washer and hex nut.
10. Tighten all fasteners to the required torque specification.
11. Using the cable ties secure the vehicle wiring to the forward hole on the side of the hitch bracket with the cable ties.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent
entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a
vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
