Always wear SAFETY GLASSES
when installing hitch
1. Appearance bottom panel and mud flap removal - use phillips screwdriver, panel removal tool, and 10 mm socket to remove (3) rivets, and (2) bolts from
bottom panel on driver side. Remove the mud flap each side if present. Keep the bottom panel and mud flaps for reinstallation.
2. Bumper fascia removal - use panel removal tool to remove (2) plastic rivets from center bottom fascia. Use phillips screwdriver and 10 mm socket to remove
(4) bolts from wheel well liner each side. Open the trunk and use 3/16'' hex bits to remove (2) screws each side, see Figure 3. Using plastic trim tools, gently
remove the plastic fascia starting at the outer edges near the wheel wells. Disconnect the wiring from fascia if equipped.
3. Bumper beam removal - use 14 mm socket to remove (4) factory bolts from bumper beam and return them to customer. Carefully set the bumper beam aside
for reinstallation.
4. Hitch installation – tape (4) flat washers ① on the end panel where the holes locate, see Figure 1. Tape a spacer block ② on the hitch tab each side, see
Figure 2. Raise the hitch above the exhaust pipe and loosely install M10 bolts ⑤ and 3/8'' conical washers ⑥ to the upper attachment holes on the end panel.
Loosely install M12 bolts ③ and 1/2'' conical washers ④ to the frame rails. Raise the bumper beam to sandwich the hitch and loosely secure them by the rest
of M10 fasteners at lower attachment holes, see Figure 1.
5. Tighten all M10 fasteners with torque wrench to 59 Lb.-Ft. (80 N*M) and all M12 fasteners to 76 Lb.-Ft. (103 N*M).
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
6. Bumper beam raised bracket height adjustment – use a hammer to bend (3) raised brackets on bumper beam to reduce the height about 1/4'', see Figure 4a
and 4b. Trim the foam piece to fit on the bumper beam, see Figure 4c.
7. Bottom fascia trimming – locate the center of bottom panel and trim 3.0'' tall by 8.5'' wide area, see Figure 5. Trim the fascia area above the muffler as shown
in Figure 6.
8. Reinstall all fasteners, fascia, appearance bottom panel, and mud flaps removed in Step 1, 2.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch
or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This
product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
