Remove appearance panel – Remove appearance panel which covers the driver's side frame rail. Remove 10mm hex nuts and plastic rivets(Rivets are released by first pulling out center post of rivet with

small flat edge screwdriver). Remove rubber plugs from the frame rail, if present. Return plugs to owner.
Lower muffler & remove heat shield - Lower exhaust (2) rubber isolator hangers, one on side and rear of muffler. Note: Spraying a lubricant or soapy water on the metal hanger rod and the rubber

isolator helps removal. Remove heat shield using 10mm socket. Trim as shown. See figure 2.
Remove lower fascia trim – Confirm and mark center of lower fascia. Remove plastic rivet at bottom of fascia. Remove (1) screw each side, located inside fascia at the lower attaching point with philips

screwdriver. Gently separate the lower fascia trim from the rear fascia pulling the trim upward (if necessary apply minimum pressure to tabs located on the inside of the rear fascia. Remove remaining
plastic fascia tabs.
Raise hitch for template – Using reverse pull wire procedure, install items 1 & 2 into existing access hole in frame(leave pull wire attached to item 1). Feed the pull wire through the forward holes on the

hitch. Raise hitch into place, feed item 3 over pull wire, using the conical washer to hold the bolt in place remove the pull wires and attach the hex nut. Hand tighten both sides. Check to assure hitch is
even and centered on vehicle. Using the hitch as a template mark or center punch the (2) rearward holes on both sides.
Drill holes – being careful lower hitch making sure not to knock forward bolts into frame rail. Re-attach pull wires and remove or push current fastener out of way. Drill holes and remove any burrs.

Install fasteners – Install the rear fasteners into drilled holes. Feed the coiled end of the pull wire through the drilled hole in the frame rail and out the access hole. Pull the pull wire with fasteners into

location through the hole. Leave pull wires attached. Repeat the same process on both frame rails. Re-install or pull forward fastener into place. Leave pull wires attached.
Re-install heat shield – Re-install heat shield – Re-install trimmed heat shield. Sandwiching the remaining tab of heat shield between frame rail and hitch.

Install hitch – Raise hitch into position, feed pull wire through corresponding holes on hitch. Using the conical washer to hold the bolt in place remove the pull wires and attach the hex nut. Tighten to

hold hitch in place, repeat on all fasteners.

Tighten all 7/16-14 GR 5 fasteners with torque wrench to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M)
10. Trim lower fascia - Trim lower fascia as shown. See figure 3. Recommend radius in corners.
11. Re-install fascia – Re-attach (2) outside plastic fascia tabs. Re-install lower fascia starting at center and gently pushing tabs into corresponding slots. Re-install the screws at lower attaching points.
Reinstall plastic rivets. Return center plastic fascia tab to owner.
12. Raise exhaust - Raise exhaust back into position and reattach exhaust hangers disconnected in step 2. Note: Using a spraying a lubricant helps with reinstallation.
13. Re-install appearance panel - Reinstall the appearance panel removed in step 1.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or
ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
