Initial operation and use

Backup battery

To ensure that the clock continues running in the background even if you discon-
nect the device from the power supply, you can insert a 3 volt lithium button cell
(type CR2032; not supplied).
 Pull out the plug.
 Take the cover off the battery compartment underneath the device.
 Insert the battery and close the battery compartment.
 Plug the mains plug back into a 230 V ~ 50 Hz mains socket.
Set the clock when the battery has been inserted in order to retain the time in the
memory when the device is disconnected from the mains.
NOTE
If the device is operated for a long time without mains voltage (e.g. af-
ter a power failure), the clock may differ from the actual time by sever-
al minutes. After every power outage, check that the set time is correct
and, if necessary, make adjustments.

Inserting the batteries

1)
Use a suitably sized coin to turn the battery cover in an anticlockwise direc-
tion and then remove it.
2)
Insert the battery into the compartment with the negative pole facing down-
wards.
3)
Now replace the battery compartment cover with the tabs in the slots as il-
lustrated.
4)
Use a suitably sized coin to turn the battery cover in a clockwise direction to
lock it.
