If a drill bit is guided through the perforated disc 1 and the
opening in the main body 3, it must not come into contact with
the parallel guide 5. In this case, slide the parallel guide back.
Retighten the locking screw 2. Ensure that the square of the
screw head 9 engages in the recess in the main body 3 in or-
der to secure the screw to prevent it twisting.
Using the contact tab (see figure A)
Use the contact tab 6 in different positions depending on the
intended application:
– In position I e.g. for dowel holes for corner joints,
– In position II e.g. for dowel holes for obtuse angle joints,
– In position III e.g. for dowel holes for surface joints.
If a drill bit is guided through the perforated disc 1 and the
opening in the main body 3, it must not come into contact with
the contact tab 6. In this case, slide the contact tab back.
Operation
Working Advice
 Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped with clamp-
ing devices or in a vice is held more secure than by hand.
If you use drill bits with widened drill bit tips (e.g. for masonry
drilling), first slide the drill bit through the opening in the main
body 3 and perforated disc 1 from below and then insert it
into the drill chuck of your power tool.
Press the dowel drilling guide firmly onto the surface when
drilling.
Aligning the dowel drilling guide (see figures B and D)
You can align the dowel drilling guide with both sides of the
main body as well as the centre marker 8 using the zero mark
7 on the graduated scale 4. If the perforated disc 1 is locked
in place, the centre point of the hole will be at the intersection
of the zero markers 7 and the centre marker 8.
If a hole is to be drilled in the centre of a workpiece, set the
parallel guide 5 to half the width of the workpiece. The zero
marker 7 will then be positioned over the centre of the work-
piece.
Drilling with the depth stop (Accessory)
(see figures E–F)
The depth stop 10 (accessory) can be used to limit the drilling
depth. Attach the depth stop to the drill bit so that the dis-
tance between the drill bit tip and the depth stop corresponds
to the required drilling depth.
When using the dowel drilling guide, you must add the height
of the dowel drilling guide (30 mm) to the required drilling
depth.
Drilling dowel holes
 Secure workpieces that are placed against each other
using a clamping device so that they cannot shift
relative to each other.

Drilling dowel holes for corner joints and obtuse angle
joints (see figures G – H)
Drill the dowel holes as shown in figure G (for corner joints) or
figure H (for obtuse angle joints).
Set and fix the parallel guide 5 when drilling in workpiece 1
and leave it unchanged for drilling the hole in workpiece 2.
Drilling dowel holes for surface joints (see figure I)
Drill the dowel holes as shown in figure I.
Remove the parallel guide for drilling the hole in workpiece 2.
Position the dowel drilling guide on workpiece 2 so that the
zero markings 7 are positioned over the centre of the hole you
intend to drill.
Work Examples (see figures J – L)
You can see further example applications of the dowel drilling
guide in figures J to L.
