General Safety Notices for Power Tools
This chapter reproduces the general safety notices that are pre-formulated in the
i
standard DIN EN 62841-1 for electric motor-operated handheld tools.
The safety notices for avoiding an electric shock that are specifi ed under
"2) Electrical safety notices" are not applicable to battery-powered Hoberg gar-
dening tools.
Warning: Note all safety notices, instructions, illustrations and tech-
nical data provided with this power tool. Failure to follow the instruc-
tions below may result in electric shock, fi re and / or serious injuries.
Retain all safety warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term "power tool" used in the safety notices refers to mains-operated
(corded) power tools and to battery-operated (cordless) power tools.
1) Workplace Safety
■
Keep the working area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
■
Do not operate the power tool in potentially explosive atmospheres containing
fl ammable liquids, gases, or dusts. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the
dust or fumes.
■
Keep children and bystanders away while operating the power tool. If you are
distracted, you may lose control of the power tool.
2) Electrical Safety
■
The power tool mains plug must fi t in the plug socket. The plug may not be
modifi ed in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded)
power tools. Unmodifi ed mains plugs and matching sockets will reduce the risk of
electric shock.
■
Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radia-
tors, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if the body
is earthed or grounded.
■
Keep power tools away from rain or moisture. Water entering a power tool will
increase the risk of electric shock.
■
Do not misuse the mains cable for carrying, suspending or unplugging the
power tool. Keep the mains cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving
parts. Damaged or entangled mains cables increase the risk of electric shock.
