Procedure
1. Position the preformed stay along the side of
the foot to check for proper fit. The stay is
made from Aquaplast® Watercolors®
splinting material. To trim or modify it, spot
heat it with a heat gun or hot water. Heating
the entire stay may cause it to lose its
preformed shape.
2. Put the stay into the pocket narrow end
first (A).
3. Put the fabric splint onto the foot and close
the hook-and-loop fasteners across the top of
the foot and around the great toe (B).
4. If desired, lateral pull on the great toe can be
increased by attaching one end of a strip of
hook material to the side of the splint at the
level of the great toe, pulling the strip to better
align the toe, and fastening the other end to
the splint (C).
5. The fabric splint can be trimmed, but do not
trim areas that have been stitched.
