GEMINI users must be familiar with workplace hazards prior to using the equipment and must be fully
trained in the use of the apparatus.
This Manual must be read in conjunction with the filter Manual prior to using the equipment.
This product must only be used with Scott Safety-branded filters manufactured by Scott Safety. The use of
any other filters will negate the approval and will be likely to reduce the level of protection provided.
Change the filter if contaminant can be smelled, tasted, or if the canister is clogged. Filter life depends
upon the density of contaminant in the atmosphere, wearer work rate and heart/lung efficiency.
DO NOT use GEMINI in confined spaces, oxygen deficient atmospheres (<19.5%), oxygen enriched
atmospheres (>23%) or where there is an immediate hazard to life or health.
DO NOT use if the ambient temperature is outside of the range -10°C to +50°C. Humidity levels up to 95%
RH do not present any operational problems.
DO NOT use if the mask or filter is damaged. DO NOT use if the filter is clogged or time-expired (see filter
label).
Protection will only be obtained if the unit is fitted correctly.
It is unlikely that the requirements for leakage will be achieved if hair, spectacle side arms or clothing
intrude into the faceseal.
DO NOT modify facemasks as this will invalidate all approvals and may result in death or injury to the
wearer.
INTRODUCTION
GEMINI is a full facemask that conforms
to EN 136. When used in conjunction with
the
appropriate
filter,
provided against limited concentrations of
toxic gases or highly toxic dust particles,
fumes and mists.
There are two versions of the mask:
•
RFF40 - moulded in durable, non-
dermatitic, black Neoprene.
•
RFF60 - moulded in soft, flexible,
hypo-allergenic yellow Silicone.
On both versions of the mask, the single
filter is mounted at the front of the visor
by
means
of
a
connection that conforms to EN 148-1.
Each mask accepts a single filter from the
EC200R Series.

There are two size versions of each mask
type:
small/medium
medium/large (M/L); all of which feature a
five-point,
adjustable
moulded in EPDM and a neckstrap that
permits the mask to be slung from the
wearer's neck when not in use.
The coated polycarbonate visor meets
the impact requirements of EN 166.
The
inner
mask,
diaphragm, reduces carbon dioxide dead-
space and minimises visor misting.
When a wearer inhales, contaminated air
is drawn in through the filter and inhale
valve, over the inner surface of the visor
(keeping it clear of misting) and into the
inner
mask
Exhaled air flows out of the inner mask
through
the
atmosphere.
