If eyewear is worn, be sure to expand the neckseal
outward far enough to clear the eyewear during don-
ning. If the neck seal or hood material of the Safe
Escape Respirator becomes torn or damaged the
result may be serious personal injury or death.
6. Adjust the nosecup on
the face. The nosecup
must cover the nose
and mouth for proper
protection when using
the Safe Escape
Respirator.
7. Adjust harness by
grasping the back of the
hood and pulling it into
position so that the har-
ness cradles the crown
of the head.
8. Ensure the neckseal is
sealed against neck.
Nothing should be
obstructing the neck-
seal to the skin.

DONNING

If hair, clothing, or other conditions prevent direct con-
tact between the skin and neck opening of the Safe
Escape Respirator, then a satisfactory seal may not be
achieved. Failure to follow this warning can result in
serious personal injury or death.
9. Pull the skirt of the
hood down to cover the
neckseal area.
Note: If the situation permits, another person can help to
ensure that nothing is obstructing the neckseal to the skin
and that the skirt of the hood covers the neckseal area.
10.
Perform a Negative Pressure Seal test.
a. Block off canister inlet using the palm of hand.
b. Inhale gently, if the seal is good, the nosecup will
collapse and remain collapsed against face.
Remove hand and breathe normally.
c. If the nosecup does
not collapse during
the test, or any leak-
age is noticed, read-
just the fit of the
nosecup and/or har-
ness, and perform
Negative Pressure
Seal Test again.
