2. SAFETY CAUTIONS
The following paragraphs describe the safety instructions that must be followed during the installation,
commissioning and maintenance of D-Vo. Carefully read all the instructions before performing any operation on
the device, and keep this manual for future reference.
It is the responsibility of the end User to make sure that everyone involved in the installation and/or
commissioning of D-Vo:
•
has received training, information and qualifications regarding the electrical risks and the specific
risks associated with the electrical machines and with the devices in use;
•
has received training, information and qualifications regarding the respective tasks, to ensure the
quality of works and prevent any accident to operators, in compliance with the regulations in force;
•
ha received appropriate instructions or training regarding D-Vo, and has read and understood the
safety instructions contained in this document.
The following rules must be strictly observed:
•
D-Vo must be used in compliance with the product specifications and in accordance with the
electrical and mechanical data specified in Chapter 3;
•
never alter the connection diagrams provided with the generator, unless told and authorised to do
it by qualified Marelli Motori personnel;
•
never alter the mechanical or electrical parts of the D-Vo device;
•
the installation, commissioning and maintenance of D-Vo shall only be performed by trained,
informed and qualified personnel;
•
the end User shall ensure that D-Vo is used under appropriate environmental conditions and is in
perfect working order.
When performing any maintenance operation, work on cables or mechanical installation on D-Vo, you
must:
•
make sure the generator is stopped before operating;
•
check that the PWR and ALM LEDs (Paragraph 4.7) are off; never perform any operation on the
D-Vo cables if one or both LEDs are blinking, as that would indicate the presence of an internal
voltage exceeding 30Vdc, with a potential danger of electrocution to anyone coming into contact
with it;
•
use appropriate instruments to make sure that there are no dangerous voltage potentials (>50V)
on the D-Vo terminals and/or on the other electrical parts connected to it;
•
take the precautions required to make sure that power is not restored;
•
be careful when installing or replacing a D-Vo unit, as the D-Vo internal capacitors, or the external
ones, if any, can still have a residual charge; depending on the capacity of the existing capacitors,
it may take a few minutes for the charge inside them to drop to safe values;
•
make sure that enough time has passed since the D-Vo has been stopped to ensure that the
temperature of the regulator and energising system components drops to safe levels.
Marelli Motori accepts no liability for any damages to D-Vo, to the system, or to people, or for any loss of
earnings/money, or for any downtime due to failure to comply with the safety and/or installation/operating
instructions contained in this Manual or in the documents supplied along with the generator.
