Replacement Interval Guide
Year:
Lexus recommends replacement every
90,000 miles or 72 months, whichever occurs first.
The previous use and service history of the vehicle
must always be taken into account.
Check For Engine Damage
CAUTION: This engine has been identified as an
INTERFERENCE engine in which the possibility of
valve-to-piston damage in the event of a timing belt
failure is MOST LIKELY to occur.
A compression check of all cylinders should be
performed before removing the cylinder head.

Installation
1. Check:
¡
Check guide and tensioner pulleys run smoothly.
¡
Visually check water pump air hole and water
hole for coolant leakage.
¡
If leakage is found replace water pump.
¡
Turn the water pump pulley to check the
bearings are smooth and quiet, if not then
replace the water pump.
2. Check and reset auto tensioner as follows:
¡
Remove dust boot and check auto tensioner for
any oil leakage replace if necessary j
¡
Push the auto tensioner pushrod firmly against a
wall or floor, if the pushrod moves, replace the
auto tensioner.
¡
Using a hydraulic press with a force of
220-2205 lbs, slowly press the pushrod into the
tensioner unit.
¡
Align the holes of the pushrod and housing and
insert a suitable Allen wrench to retain pushrod
in position j
